Classic Fairytale You Should Watch Online – The Little Mermaid
Joe Wright is a talented director who’s known for picking his projects carefully. He previously directed such acclaimed films as Pride and Prejudice and Atonement and now he wants to tackle – The Little Mermaid. According to THR, Wright is developing a live action version of the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale alongside Working Title Films.
The script for the movie has been written by Abi Morgan and “tells the classic tale of a young mermaid who gives up her life in the sea to love a human prince.” The story was first published by Andersen in 1837 and has been adapted multiple times over for film and television. One of the most famous versions is the Disney animated movie (which is one of my favorite movies of all time!).
Wright has the talent to pull off any script that’s thrown his way but when was the last time we could watch The Little Mermaid online free? Splash? That was over 25 years ago! Also, if we have to sit through Keira Knightley as the title character we’re going to have a serious problem.
Chloe Grace Moretz secures the lead role
Chloe Grace Moretz, the now 18-year-old actress who secured her stardom as pre-pubescent avenging angel Hit-Girl in the 2010 cinematic release of Kick-Ass, took online to Twitter on November 6 to say that she’s taking on the kinder, gentler role of Ariel in the live-action film The Little Mermaid. Breaking the big news, Mortez tweeted “Been waiting a long time to tell you guys !! #TheLittleMermaid going to be a beautiful experience! Can’t wait to watch The Little Mermaid!”
Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Moretz will indeed be taking the dive starring in the beloved adaption of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale where a young mermaid saves a handsome prince from drowning, falls in love with him and then grows legs to follow her prince on dry land. Although the classic tale of The Little Mermaid has been around for years, the character of Ariel and the story of The Little Mermaid captured the hearts of youngsters around the word with it’s release in 1989.
Although most of us were introduced to Moretz thanks to Kick-Ass in 2010 and Kick-Ass 2 in 2013, the actress has been working since she was seven years old. Her credits date back to 2004 with parts in Heart of the Beholder, The Amityville Horror, and Today You Die.
What do you think of Wright taking on The Little Mermaid? Do you think a good live action version is possible and do you want to watch the full movie?
